Charles Walker, Saxophonist

Born in Hueytown, Alabama, Charles began playing the saxophone at the age of twelve. Two years later at the age of fourteen, his unique skills and passion for jazz music opened the door of opportunity for him to begin playing at the Hopewell Baptist Church in Wylam, Alabama.  Charles quickly became one of Birmingham’s most sought after saxophonists for everything from live jazz music to events, parties and appearing in churches.

His musical influence and style are attributed to the likes of Grover Washington Jr., Cannonball Adderly, Kirk Whalum and Gerald Albright. However, his saxophone music carries an instrumental distinction like no other.

In the year 2001, Charles moved to the music city of Nashville, Tennessee where he quickly became engaged with some of the industry’s most elite artists. Charles has had studio sessions with countless artists and has contributed to many projects with notable artists such as Bernard Harris, Kevin Whalum and many others. He has shared the stage with many contemporary Christian artists including the PlanetShakers, Jamie Grace, Royal Tailor, Danny Gokey, Unspoken and band members from Building 429. Charles has also opened for Smokie Norful and Donnie McClurkin.

His name remains on the lips of many artists across the country, whether he is recording jazz music or providing party entertainment for groups of all sizes. He is one of the featured artists at the bi-annual Kingdom Global World Connect Conference as well as the K-Love Christian Cruise. Charles’ career as a jazz musician has catapulted to amazing heights.

His debut project is “Life Changing: A Journey Called Grace”. Creating saxophone music is the motivation behind all he does in life. Charles’ purpose is to share his gift with as many people as possible. In his own words, Charles declares “My wish is that God will allow my music to bless communities and nations.”

You’ll find Charles and his family enjoying the wide variety of entertainment in Nashville in addition to creating their own. Charles is in the final stages of recording along with his wife and will debut new original jazz music in late spring of 2020.
